The Department of Data Management & Biostatistics was founded in 2006 to particularly cater to the needs of the large scale epidemiological studies launched by the Department of Epidemiology. The facility with which it afforded data management and processing to dissemination of results for the studies conducted by the department of epidemology resulted in the departmental activities being extended to cater to the data generated by all the departments in MDRF in the course of their respective studies.
In terms of data management the department interfaces with the departments of epidemiology, food and nutrition, clinical trials, biochemistry [both the clinical and research divisions], genetics and cell and molecular biology. Where required; customized databases are created to facilitate the unique data entry needs of either a study or a department. Once the software is designed; in the application phase, on site troubleshooting is also provided to work out any kinks in the software or in training the individuals actually handling the software in the protocol to be followed. We are also involved in data warehousing and analysis (biostatistics). We also provide computing, server and database maintenance, networking and video conferencing facilities.
